Making the Impact of Digitalisation Visible
Digitalisation is often equated with "the internet," but recent developments demonstrate that its impact extends far beyond browsing. We need to consider digitalisation in a broader context, as it permeates every aspect of our daily lives. We order food through delivery apps, navigate cities on rented electric scooters and bikes, make payments with our mobile phones, communicate through various apps, and connect to Bluetooth devices. Many of these actions have become automatic or even unconscious, yet digital technologies significantly shape how we interact and navigate public spaces.

The audio walk in Basel aims to make digital technologies visible. Using public squares and shops as illustrative examples, the audio walk shows how technologies influence the future of cities. What challenges are posed by private tech companies? How do algorithmic systems change our relationship with the state and the administration? Through engaging with our environment the audio walk fosters active listening and explains complex phenomena in an easily understandable way.
